Seamless tubes – ensuring long lifetimes in special glass industry applications

At first sight these tubes appear to be simple components, but considering the requirements for high temperature service and long lifetimes those thin walled tubes are no easy structural parts. Umicore provides such tubes from our grain stabilized FKS material without any welding seam. The outstanding mechanical strength of FKS is therefore maintained along the complete tube due to the absence of longitudinal welding seam.
Our competent workshop is also able to fabricate tapered seamless tubes with a smooth change from large to small diameters. Such tubes can be used to accelerate the glass flow velocity in feeder systems.
We also provide shape design executions for all tubes. Those executions, like corrugations or the vault structure, will increase the shape stability and will compensate thermal expansion in all directions.
